Our activities involved military training, building fences, fortifications, maintaining minefields and also general ongoing military defense and security. We had spare time too and would take advantage of the areas we were in, to swim and hike. I did not like leaving the family and work behind but once I was doing duty I would enjoy it. There was much laughter and storytelling.
