Family story 2009-2011

Living at Tzamarot and Y.L. Baruch, Herzlia

During this period, Miriam and Shlomo sold their business in Agrippas St. and retired, Shlomo was about 90 and Miriam, 70. Shlomo brought his sewing machine and all his tools home where he continued fixing things. I have many of his tools now and use them with reverence.

We moved to another apartment from 2010 to 2015, renting out the one at Tsamarot.

The Sarankin family came to Israel to celebrate Sasha’s bar mitzvah. It was held at the Italian synagogue in Jerusalem and of course much of the family attended.

While on a business trip to New York and Seattle, I managed to also visit family in L.A. and San Diego.

Jenna arrived from Canada and we hosted her for a few days

Alon came for Tomer’s wedding in January 2011 and he, Chick and I, visited amazing Petra.

In June, Yaniv and Darcy were married in Alexandria, Virginia and so we gained a whole new part to our family.

2011 is the year when I began researching my family roots. The trigger happened on a visit to my great uncle Martin in NYC. He gave me 2 documents. One recounting the massacre of his parents amongst the Jews of Keidan, Lithuania and two, an extensive family tree for the Wolpe family from whom my mother was descended. I have come to realize that who and what I am is also very much a product of my ancestors and that I will affect my descendants in much the same way.
